RAF Mk.III flying goggles

SOLD

Code: G17201

Stores reference 22/69.  One of the classic 'Battle of Britain' pattern goggles.  The frame is very good bar light rubbing and paint loss on exposed points.  All of the frame screws are original and both frame 'stops' remains in place.  The leather surround is in good condition but as usual, much of the internal padding has hardened and the right side (as viewed) is splattered with paint that has also marked parts of the frame.  The nosepiece is supple but does have surface wear.  Excellent original lenses with light scuffing and scratches only.  All of the strap springs are excellent but their cloth coverings are soiled and paint marked.  The leather strap section remains strong but again has paint splattering and the 'end roll' has been removed.  With embossed Air Ministry King's crown, reference, A.I.D. markings and 1936 date code.  Perhaps the paint could be carefully removed but either way, this is a good '+' / very good pair of British manufacture Mk.III goggles.  Much harder to find than their RCAF counterpart.  Stock code G17201.
